How to become a member of the Association of Hong Kong Nursing
Staff (AHKNS)?

The AHKNS is open to any persons whose name appears on the
Part I and/ or Part II of the register of the Nursing Council
of Hong Kong and/ or currently employed in the Hospital Authority,
Hong Kong Department of Health or private hospitals or other
institutions as nursing staff.
How nurses trained outside Hong
Kong could become enrolled nurse?

Every person, who wishes to be practised as a registered
nurse or enrolled nurse in Hong Kong, should be a holder of
valid practising certificate issued by the Nursing Council
of Hong Kong. Any person with overseas qualification, who
wishes to practise as a nurse in Hong Kong, must be registered
or enrolled as a registered nurse or enrolled nurse with the
Nursing Council of Hong Kong. They must fulfill the requirements
for registration or enrollment as stipulated by the Nursing
Council of Hong Kong.

Where can I take up the nurse training?

There are 3 Universities running full-time nursing degree
course in Hong Kong. They are: the University of Hong Kong
(HKU), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the
Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU). For detailed information,

Nurses' Title ?

Section 24 of Nurses Registration Ordinance (Cap.164), ˇ§Penalties for assumption of title of nurseˇ¨, provides, inter alia, that, any person who is not being a duly registered nurse in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance, wilfully pretends to be or takes or uses the name or title of registered or enrolled nurse, either alone or in combination with any other words or letters, or any name, title, addition, description, uniform, or badge, implying that he is registered or enrolled or recognized by law as registered or an enrolled nurse, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine of $1,000 and imprisonment for 3 months.
